Greatly appreciated LR.

Right now things look tough, but we're restocking, tending to the wounded, burying the dead and the disbelievers, and preparing for the new big engagement.

There are no reinforcements on the horizon to replace the halt, the sick and the lame. Nevertheless, the Toon expects.....and all that.

Once more unto the breach, dear fans, once more,
Or close up the goal with our Geordie dead.
Stiffen the sinews, conjure up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favoured rage.
The game's afoot.
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry, "God for Nobby, the Toon and Saint Bob!"

Bearing in mind the national composition of both teams, I thought the French Foreign Legion's bash at Camerone might have sprung to mind. That's the one where the only thing left was the Commandant's wooden hand, I think.

Oh yeah, and the away team (Legion Etrangere) got beat!

I was just thinking of last Christmas when we had everybody out, Shola was making a debut and let's face it, we thought we'd get nul points from Leeds and Man Utd at home.

We got four.

There's no such thing as an impossible victory, in much the same way as it's impossible to "score from an impossible angle". By definition. :-)

Nice thoughts mind LR.

I like the Agincourt analogy Clarky - especially with the Arsenal French contingent. Made me smile for the first time today!
