A whole BOX full of original MIKE DIXON photographs just arrived! Thanks Mike!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I just wanted to inform the group that Mike has delivered on HIS side of the bargain by sending a box full of about a dozen original prints. I will be sure to distribute them fairly to the appropriate parties -- BUT, I am keeping the one of Renee for myself ;-)

Thans Mike! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet images!

Jack, glad they arrived safely and that you're pleased with the images. Hope the others are just as happy . . .

Sparkie, they're original prints of a number of the images I've posted here at one time or another; you've probably seen several of them already. Here's the one of Renee (though the original looks better than the scan):

AND that IS the one I'm keeping!!!

While the rest of us are splitting hairs over esoteric Leica info, Mike is taking these wonderful pictures; nobody seems to ask how he does it. All the shots have this here-I-am, this-is-me directness, which I know can only be achieved through the manner of realting to the model; no amount of technical knowledge can acieve this look. Mike's mastery of camera technique and lighting is obvious, but by itself doesn't explain the results, just as someone who knows how to use his brushes and mix the colors, isn't automatically another Renoir.

Mike, you inspire me,not to try to be another Mike Dixon--only you can be that--but to identify what I do best and perfect it.

That was supposed to be, "manner of relating." of course.

Make sure you bring some south Jack...

Thanks very much, guys. I had a lousy couple of months around the new year, and I was just starting to come back to life. The goings on here (and other factors) have really helped get me back in gear. The support I've found on this forum is genuinely appreciated.

So, Bob, when are you going to start showing us Bob Fleischman photos?

What goes around, comes around. Thank YOU, Mike.

Hello,

Q to Mike Dixon: is there some way, that normal folks here could also get hold of on of your prints??

I confess, I´am also a severe fan of Mike-Dixon-photography for quite a while already and I apologize for not having looked into his website earlier ... Really great photographs to view there and if I ever marry again, Mike Dixon would have to be the one to take my weddingphotos.

Nothíng against cameras and lenses, but after all this technical business on this forum, it is most refreshing to see and chat about real photography. This is actually the main reason why O. Barnack created this marvellous LEICA gear and he would have been delighted as well to see the decendants of his baby to be put in such wonderful use.

Good shooting

Thanks, K.G. Send me an email about what kind of images you're interested in and what sizes--we can probably work something out.
