A Man and His Bedding and ...... (Funny)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Style Homesteading : One Thread

Okay ... we have several uses here for the pine bedding you get at WallyWorld and the DW informs me yesterday that we were out. I had some packages to mail, pick up a few groceries, and my mom wanted to go renew her boat license - that's all we had to do! Out, take care of a coupel things and get back home, right? NOT!

Ladies, if you have a man that gets spring fever NEVER send him to Wal-Mart to pick up a bag of bedding that's kept in the gardening section! It just doesn't work!

So what did I come home with? A big bag of potting soil, 6 packs of little peat-pots (12 per pack), 30 (count em' - 30) packs of various seeds, and of course, the bedding! Well, after all - I DID just put together that greenhouse - gotta fill it with something, don't I?

I figure my DW will be somewhat upset that I spent nearly $20 when I was supposed to pick up a $5 bag of bedding, but she wasn't. She informed me that while I was gone she'd ordered some heirloom tomatoes (Coustralee), some peter peppers, and had someone from the forum sending her some heirloom tomatoes also (thanks!).

Naw ... we don't have spring fever! If you believe that after this post, I've got some pretty watches here to sell you ...... :8)!

Forget the watches - you don't have any baby chickies do you?! My husband has forbidden me to enter the doors of our local Rural King farm store until that point in time when they no longer have the big tubs of baby chickies sitting out.

I do have tomato seedlings 2" tall with their second set of leaves that I will be transplanting on Thursday, if anyone would like to come over and help! I'll be home right after I run by the lumberyard to get the lumber for those last 12 4X4 beds. Hey - the weather forcast is good; gotta make hay while the sun shines!! It's still March - Old Man Winter could be bopping us in the butt with snowballs again next week!

Ahhhhh, Phil, how could Cheryl be mad at a guy who shops like that!? :) Ain't Spring grand? The only problem I have with Dave is when I'm ordering seeds. He always wants to grow the weirdest stuff, just to try out. I always try to hide from him when I order my seeds, but he always finds me. Happy planting!

I would never send my DH because I am the one who goes to get milk and bread and comes home with Spring Fever! I went for milk and bread- just milk and bread! I ended up with a peach tree, two cherry trees, 12 packs of seeds, hose gaurds, peat pots, potting soil and a tiny 'baby-pink' rose bush! That's right NO milk or bread! I forget to get it!!! It wasn't my fault--all the parking places were taken except the ones in front of the garden center and the wind was blowing and it was cold and the door was really close ---so I went in!!!!:)! "But with the money that I saved I can buy an extra gal. of milk!!!"LOL

I can relate to this! I'm trying real hard to avoid the local farm store. They have all this great garden stuff out AND BABY CHICKS AND DUCKS!! I don't dare go in there. LOL!
