We're not moving after all!

I posted last week about finding a job ad that fit hubby to a 'T'. We faxed his resume and he called last Wed to find out about interviews. Was told to call back on Monday as they were not scheduling until the following week. Called back early Monday & was told that they had interviewed & hired someone last Thursday. Go figure! Guess he's stuck in his current job a little longer. Not that he doesn't like it, just we were really hoping to find something in another area. BTW, for those that inquired about it. My husband is a stationary engineer & boiler operator. Most people don't even know what a boiler is or realize what is involved. They are somewhat dangerous, lots of chemicals and high pressure steam vessels. The job is somewhat limited to industrial areas...usually on the side of town you don't drive through after dark!

Seems to be a cronic shortage of those up here in southern rural Minnesota - I see an ad for one every 3 months in the paper. On the other hand, one of the companies seems to have a lot of turnover so might not be a good work enviornment, donno.

Just a thought, Around here (northern Ohio)all of our schools in our district use boilers and boiler operators. We also have a nulber of Greenhouses and from time to time they advertise for boiler operators. Try school districts where you want to go and see if there are any openings. High pressure license pays a little higher then low pressure but still fair pay.

Have you ever checked out monster.com. Just jumped over to it and typed in boiler operator and came up with 15 hits for all over the country. It might be worth checking into.
