Well, those of you who found something better to do missed a cracking game! Seven goals in all, 2 for Lua2 and one each for Bernard, Stevie Caldwell and McMenamin. Oh yes, ManU got a couple, don’t know/care who scored theirs!

The ManU team included Dwight Yorke who definitely didn’t want to be there! Last out for the warm up and spent the time mooching around ignoring his team mates. Didn’t do much during the game except spend a lot of time on his backside! Not surprised when he was subbed during the second half.

Before the game Clarence Acuna came down the steps and spent several minutes signing autographs for the bairns. Also in attendance were Carl Cort, Bobby Robson, John Carver and interestingly, Bobby Charlton.

We gave them an early lead by letting a lone player run through and score. However the man in charge of the scoreboard gave the score as 1-0 to Newcastle, then 2-0 before he finally figured out how to work the thing. We then woke up and started to play some nice football and Lua2 got his first goal from close range. His second came from a superb angled shot about 20 yards out. Then Griffin (?) gave the ball away at the other end and they scored.. One of their players was battling with Bernard down the touchline and complained that “he’s kicking my legs!” Cue much laughter from the crowd. Bernard got our third goal shortly before half time.

Second half started where we left off. Stevie Caldwell scored from a corner. By now the ManU players were getting more niggly and fouling our players. A second yellow card led to complaints from the ManU coach that the ref was “playing to the crowd” – more derisive laughter. Colin McMenamin got our final goal and Michael Chopra was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after several excellent attempts, including one late on from distance that just whistled over the bar.

A most enjoyable game and even the weather was reasonable for once. Not too windy and the rain held off for most of the evening. Attendance something like 1827 – where were they all last time??

Ta for report - a nice night out at KP for a change!

I was there with my brother and his mate, it was a great match.

Lua was a little bit hit and miss, but thankfully more hit, never stopped running. When he did hit it was great stuff. His second goal in particular stood out.

Their second goal was down to Mark Boyd (not Griffin) who didn't look before passing. He was really annoyed with himself and raised his game a bit.

Basically we dominated the second half, Stevie Caldwell's left footed volley was magnificent and he was indeed very chuffed with the goal. McMenamin took his goal well after being put through by a great pass by McClen (I think).

We looked very threatening going forward, I remember Lua holding the ball up superbly, turning twice and passing wide to Wayne Quinn who miskicked it straight to a Manure player.

At the back Marcelino made a couple of minor errors but won everything in the air and was on the whole solid. Caldwell basically the same except with a fine goal. Griffin sat back too much for my liking, although if he was a bad as Quinn when in the final third you can't blame him.

Overall a good performance, nice to stuff Man U, and wasn't Dwight Yorke hopeless? £12m for that heap of crap would be a rip off for any club.

Paul it could have been Boyd, I was on the far side from where it happened. Great game tho' and I agree about Yorke - cr*p!

Howay youse lot. What aboot the important things like substitutions etc? Did Lua X2 and Bernard play the full game (and hence not figure on Wednesday)? I need to know.

Oh - I did find something better to do Steph. Packed me bags for some sunshine later in the week :) Mind, the Artic KP would have been good practice for next week. Currently -20F where I'm off to. Bliddy hell :-(

LuaLua came off after about 65-70 minutes for McMenamin, forgot to mention it.

Bernard played the full 90 I think, although I can't be sure.

Thanks for the reports, Steph and Paul. Sounds like a good evening out!

My thanks too. Pilgrim-- I thought that was the case -- simply couldnt believe it!

Yes, Bernard played the full game. Looked good.

Screacher, KP wasn't as cold as usual, wouldn't have given you much practice. Mind you they did have the bar open........
