Robert speaks: he's pissed off...

He can forget the bliddy Lolo this week...

1. Arsenal beat Newcastle 2-0, a victory that was deserved...

Absolutely, they passed the ball around and were calm and composed while we hoofed long balls forward. They largely deserved the victory.

2. What could you have done better?

We needed to stay calm and play our normal game. Bellamy's absence made itself felt. Ameobi plays like Shearer - he's good at holding the ball up but he doesn't ask for the ball in space.

3. What was Bobby Robson's advice?

We were playing our usual 4-4-2 and that's why I was surprised to see the lads playing such long balls. It's true that we were struggling to get the ball but we were obviously not going to trouble them by playing like that.

4. What was the feeling like at half time?

We felt we had played well in the first half and that we could retrieve something from the game but, unfortunately, Arsenal shut up shop and we couldn't get through their defence.

5. How did it go for you?

It wasn't easy but I'm going to pull out all the stops at Liverpool because I'm really pissed off to have lost at home to Arsenal.

6. Despite the defeat, you are still on course for the title. Losing at Liverpool would be another matter entirely.

We absoolutely have to get something from the Liverpoo, game if we are going to stay in touch at the top. We'll have to be tough and work hard because it's no party playing at Anfield (it's not much of a bleeding party supporting at Anfield, pet).

7. What happened in training this morning?

Bobby Robson spoke about the two goals. It's true that Bergkamp's was a great goal but we lacked a bit of concentration. The defeat permits us to examine ourselves because we slipped up despite having a great opportunity to go top. We now know that we have it all to do until the end of the season.

Hmm, I'm glad he's p*ssed off and so on and doesn't even exclude himself from the blame but if he is counting on us getting anything at Anfield (even if we play a blinder), he may be even more p*ssed off on Thursday.

"We'll have to be tough and work hard.......!"

Doctor, take thy own medicine.

"We absoolutely have to get something from the Liverpoo, game"

Somebody's Freudian slip is showing.... ;-)

This isn't the first time. He's pissed off to France almost every bliddy week. Ne'er mind, he'll score the winner on Wednesday and all will be forgiven.

Like Andy O'Brien pisses off to Harrogate every night?

....is that in the Latin Quarter?

Yep, and probably takes as long by car as the rive droite does from Newcastle by plane...

I couldn't disagree with anything he said. Maybe it's with the benefit of hindsight on his part, but Robert sounds like just the sort of intelligent footballer we absolutely must keep signing and developing if we're going to achieve consistent success.

The chief difficulty though is allowing people like Lolo to integrate better with the rest of "the lads" so that they can learn off him (as well as play to his strengths - like giving him the bliddy ball, early and often !)

Thanks for the translation Dougs. I'm fascinated by the French vernacular, so can you tell me what the expression for "hoofed" is? And does 'shut up shop' really have international currency?

"Ameobi plays like Shearer - he's good at holding the ball up but he doesn't ask for the ball in space."
While this is just plain bollox. Robert, of course, is great at hanging on the wing waiting to be fed the ball with 2 defenders on him.

couldn't disagree with him. Ameobi drops deep and lays the ball off and it ends up coming back to the defenders who, left with f all option, smack it long. It's just like last season. This is why i would stick Robert up front making runs and play the obviously fit again Bernard on the wing. But it's NOT gonna happen is it? Bernard will obviously be recovering from that game... So more of the same with Cort and Shearer laying the ball back to Speed who will lose it...
