He was the co-commentator on Saturday. Don't get me wrong, I've no complaints about the score, but the commentary was painful in the extreme; every time Viera, Pires or Campbell went near the ball, blood started rushing to Marwood and Parry's knobs. The handball incident wasn't deemed worthy of comment, neither was the high kicking infringement by Hughsie when Wiltord's head was all of 8 inches off the ground. Robert, of course, was "making the most" of any Arsenal challenge and we had a full 3 minute close-up on that cheating bastard Dixon's leg scratch after he went down like a sack of shite, comment was made on the booing of Berkamp for something that must have happened off the ball but that neither of the commentary team had seen (funny that). The final straw for me however was when Dabz and Pires were racing for a long ball in front of the Milburn stand late on...Pires probably had a couple of yards on Dabz over a 30 yard sprint yet Nicos got there first to slide in and make the tackle...."what a great run", we were told...."by Pires". Marwood tried to atone towards the end by coming out with a load of patronising "Newcastle have nothing to be ashamed of this season, they've peformed above themselves and ought to be very proud etc. etc." the subtext being that our season is over.

In addition, Marwood arguably has the most boring, monotone voice in sports commentating history. How on earth he was ever considered suitable for the job is utterly beyond me.

A sticky mic case if ever i heard one. How Marwood with his dreary one sided comments ever got a job commentating is beyond me. But then again it seems that is the criteria for this job.
