MILK photo book

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Has anyone seen the excellent MILK photobook series, published here in New Zealand with contributions from around the world? MILK stands for Moments of Intimacy, Laughter, and Kinship - quite a contrast from the depressing images which nightly fill our television screens. Many of the pictures are in B+W and many are Leica pictures: CL, M2, M3, M4, and M6. The others are all "Leica-style" pictures, where "the decisive moment" makes the difference. Unusually, camera and exposure details are listed at the end. If you haven't seen these books, I heartily recommend them.

Sure, i know em'......in order of release....family, friendship and love. I ahve the calenders as the books are too expensive for what they are. I will pick em' up some day because each book has some amazing pics, some that even famous pro's would only dream of catching. Definately recommended.

The problem I had with contributing to the MILK project was that essentially the photographer was required to hand over their content to these guys for free - who would then turn around and use it for books and calendars etc. for profit. Struck me as a really bad deal for the people who actually took the pictures...

Andrew

You are right, but to be realistic the amount they could have afforded to pay you would have been such a pittance that it would not have been worth it anyway.
