Fungus and dusts in Lenses

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Greetings !

I am from Nepal. I have EOS 100FN with two lenses 35-105 and 75-300. All of the sudden I found both of them are infected with Fungus from inside and also there are dust inside. What should I do? How should I remove those nasty Fungus?

Looking forward to hearing from you asap.

Regards, Deependra b. Tandukar

Sadly, it seems that once fungus has taken root in your lens there isn't much you can do. The fungus apparently etches the glass and the coating, damaging it beyond repair.

The following site lists a few things you can try if the damage doesn't seem too extensive.

For most of us, fungus is a pretty rare phenomenon, limited to extreme circumstances. Unless you are in the tropics during the monsoon and have no way of keeping your equipment dry, you really don't have to worry about it.

Sorry to hear about your lenses, Deependra. Have you noticed if the fungus has affected the image quality? If it is small, you might not see it in the prints.
