Henry not playing?

According to Sky he's not travelled with Arsenal to the Toon. Red herring?

nufc.com's got the same story

Pity Arsenal didn't fly up, then Bergkamp wouldn't be playing either

Henry OUT

Thierry Henry did not travel up to the North-East yesterday, suffering from an abdominal problem. Perhaps he didn't have the stomach for a clash with the Toon....

That evens things up somewhat, making pre-printed TV guides building this game up as a battle between two pacy forwards (Henry and Craig Bellamy) look a little silly.

I'll be glad at kick off if Henry isnt on the pitch, theres still time for him to get up to SJP - I have a full nights sleep before the match!

Yeah there is still time and it's not like Bergkamp and Kanu are useless is it? Still I'd rather he didn't play!

Classic quote off "zoomsoccer" : "Although both sides will be going for each other’s JUGGLER a draw is more likely in these fixtures than any other result."

Despite reports yesterday that he may be fit for tonights game, according to this mornings papers it seems Ashley Cole isn't ready yet to play. However, Lauren has been passed fit to play - presumably at LB with Luzhny coming in at RB for Lee Dixon.

The papers seem to feel that Wiltord will play in Henry's spot, which opens up the question of who will play on the right, given Lundberg and Parlour's non-availability? It's possible it could be the kid, Jermaine Pennant, who is a real flyer.

So Henrys really not starting, thats fantastic news! If feel a lot more optimistic now. I think Henry is more important to Arsenal than Craig is to us. At least when you look at the goals.

Thats Ljungberg Clarky, you better learn the name cause he will score a couple against you in the summer :-)

Apologies Sudden - my Swedish is not what it should be - ;o{)

In fact, it's about as good as Laurent Robert's English!

I thought Pennant was on loan somewhere bleak and godforsaken like Watford? Does this mean he's back?

-- Anonymous, March 02, 2002

Haha clarky, at least your not bringing down airplanes with it yet.

Dougal - Pennant came on as a late sub the other night. He is back, and he's going to be a really good 'un.

Kanu doesn't seem to be listed among Arsenals' injured, so I'm wondering why he wouldn't replace Henry with Wiltord staying wide right? If Kanu is available that would be my bet for tonight, viz:

Seaman
Luhzny....Stepanovs....Campbell....Lauren
Wiltord....Viera.....Grimandi....Pires
Kanu....Bergkamp

Have arsenal not named there squad or something? Because if they have and Henry is in it, then he must be playing unless he's just got a sudden injury/pain. Wenger has made it clear he wants to win the treble. He would definitely not REST Henry for this game. SO unless he's injured, I think he must be playing. But, I don't care cos we'll beat em anyway.

...reported that he has an abdominal injury incurred during the game the other night, and that he didn't travel with the team yesterday.

-- Anonymous, March 02, 2002

Both BBC and ITV have Henry posted as missing.

EXCELLENT!

Pennant is quick, but so is Distin.

Pennant is slight. Distin most certainly isn't.

Seaman Luhzny....Stepanovs....Campbell....Lauren

That back line makes me smile...

Newcastle manager Bobby Robson has criticised the Football Association for failing to punish Thierry Henry's outburst at Highbury in December.

Arsenal striker Henry is facing an FA disciplinary hearing next week for his protests after Newcastle's 3-1 win at Highbury, where the Frenchman was restrained by Newcastle captain Alan Shearer as he complained to referee Graham Poll.

However, Robson suggested Arsenal's "power" in the game may have delayed the hearing.

"I cannot believe that Henry has not been in front of the FA yet," Robson told The Mirror.

"It is coming up to three months since we played that game. What Henry did that night was not right."

"Perhaps this shows what power Arsenal have in the game today."

Ar$etude observation Mr. Robson!
