Fornula 1

Off the point, I know, but can someone explain the appeal of Formula 1. My sister is soooo excited about the new season but, to me, it's just loads of cars repeatedly whizzing around a track. What am I missing?

And football is just 90 minutes when 22 men chasing a ball?

F1 is so much more then just the race, all things around, the high speeds, the enourmous amount money spent etc etc.

I'm with you dougal, F1 ranks alongside basketball as the most tedious waste of time on this planet. Rugby's in there with a shout too, along with synchronised swimming and 3 day eventing. That said, I will always reserve my real feelings of ire for Tim Henmann and the rest of those upper class twits who try to pass Tennis off as a sport.

Narrow minded? moi?

It's much, much more than a bunch of cars driving round in circles. It's man and machine working in close harmony, pushing both to their absolute limits. On top of that, there's the noise (there's nowt like a Ferarri on full chat screaming away down the straight - its orgasmic).

Mind, I used to think that CART in the US was boring round-and-round stuff until I got hooked when I was over in the US. Sh!t, those blokes are doing upwards of 200mph closer than any of us would dare drive at 70 mph on the motorway here. And what's more, they're three, and sometie four abreast going into a banked corner. Crikey - those guys have got balls, and bliddy big ones (far bigger than their brains!).

Looking forward to it on Sunday!!

I'll be up at 1.30 watching it: one of the main reasons being that my Dad will be doing the same thing down in Sussex.

Dougal, I must introduce you to Pete next time we`re up! (;o) Yep, I`m afraid we`ll still be up in the wee small hours.......Pete`s got a wall to wall grin on this evening at the thought of the F1 season starting.(:o)

Funny but I'm reading this lot just as the wife looked at the teletext to read ALL of the comments on what's happening in the F1.

She's been counting down for a month on this one.

This is quite interesting with so many people into Formula 1. I love watching sport but honestly can't view it as much more than cars going very fast: almost like watching curling, only faster.

Dougal - it must be one helluva hairdresser's you got to if you get an F1 experience every time you're in there.
