Ask your dealer.

You guys. There is such a thing as an M7 soft release, which can also double as a lapel pin. [Believe it or not.] This item was release by Leica at PMA in small numbers. There is one on the auction block on eBay. I don't know if they plan to make any more of them or whether it is a one time thing, but it is real. It just says M7 in bold letters on top. It's one of those things Leica does from time to time without rhyme or reason.

Leica used to make chrome metal soft releases (NOT lapel pins) for both SM and M. They are beautifully made items engraved Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Germany but unfortunately are very hard to find and expensive. By comparison, the M& soft release looks crude.

I know, I've reveived mine from my dealer (after buying a M7).

Lucien. You're lucky to get one. It;'s probably worth about $ 50, if they don't decide to make more. Like getting a free Leica filter.

Sooo...has anyone thought of apologizing to "the village idiot(lurker) - oskar barnak"...

....since it turned out he was 1) serious, 2) right, and 3) 'way ahead of everyone else on this?

-- Andy Piper (apidens@denver.infi.net), March 04, 2002.

Andy's right, we should apologize. Some of our replies were unjustifiably rude. Whilst "Oskar Barnak" MAY be a pseudonym (and I have no way of proving this), which makes it difficult to apologize personally, I offer my apology nevertheless. :-)
