Did anyone watch Law 'n Order last night? (We are not TVaholics, but this is one show we like)

Last night it was freaky -

The short version is that in solving a murder case, the lawyers found out that there are private companies who have developed software that can find out your IP address (the address that shows who you are; where you're from on the internet), then follow you to every site you visit & see exactly what you do there (forum postings, chatting, banking, etc.) It gets worse...not only do they gather this information....then they sell it to whoever wants to buy it.

Talk about invasion of privacy - whoosh!

I just wondered if anyone else saw it & what your thoughts were.

I didn't happen to catch Law & Order last night, but I've heard of this before. As to what I think, I thinks it just plain stinks. However, I doubt I'm going to be able to do anything to stop it and dh and I have had a good chuckle or two over anyone tracking our internet habits. No porno, no shopping on the internet, nothing interesting at all. What little time dh spends online is with other medical people discussing REALLY, REALLY B-O-R-ING medical tests, terms, etc. (Trust me, it's boring.) If anyone feels the need to track my internet habits, they'll find me discussing diets and grandkids with you all, and horses, goats, chickens, and religion with my other internet friends. I wish these tracking companies well in trying to sell anyone my internet info. Heehee
