Lotsa Babys

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Havent posted much over here but will help Melissa by posting. For those that dont know us we raise Goats. This is the best time of the year for Us,Babys are being born every day. Went out to bottle feed 2 of our babys and found another set of twins this morning not even dryed off yet! I think this makes 9 moms that have birthed and baby count is 15 with 9 girls..a great year for girls. The moms that have had singles produced BIG babys (Boer cross) that will make good show wethers.

We have been Blessed by the Lord with a healthy herd and it is wonderful to watch how He has given the animals so much intelegence.Goats are so smart and mischevious too. There is never a dull moment around here. We herd them on free range 2 times a day and they are like children looking to get into anything they can..turn your back and they will take off at a dead run to get by you to eat on not as good a brouse.

God Bless and stay safe.

Congratulations! Baby goats are entirely too cute for their own good, I think!

I remember goat-sitting for some friends in Texas. They were milking two goats and had five babies. I made the mistake of letting the babies out to run while I tried to milk! They were on milk replacer, but they sure wanted fresh nanny milk! I had a hard time getting them back into their pen so I could finish milking. The fence was to high to lift them over, but when I opened the gate to put one or two in, the others would run out.

I hope to have milk goats some day, but the family prefers cow milk.
