The First Sentence Says It All

"What an embarrassment for Iowa. A bunch of yahoos in the Legislature finally passed a bill declaring English the state's official language. Now, Iowa can be known nationwide not only as slow growing, but as slow thinking."

-Des Moines Register Editorial

W shows Barney Lucianne.com Must Reads of the Day. Barney is said to hope we will now leave him alone.

Look Ma, We're Making A Movie: With a million (can you believe the lavishness of it?) dollars of Harry Thomason's money, Clinton idolater Joe Conason has pulled on some jodhpurs and puttees and is off to Washington and New York to make a movie of his nearly fictionalized book with Gene Lyons. Those who loved Clinton are lining up to be interviewed. As they say in movie-talk, others are staying away in droves.

Three Hanky Review: Richard Cohen seems barely able to get through his "review" of Joe Klein's new book on the meaning of Clinton. He seems utterly distracted by the sound of his own sobbing. Its hard to tell whether he wanted Klein's book to be better or worse. Cohen, objective journalist that he is, tells us of his own love for Clinton and hatred for Clinton's enemies. That sorta tells 'ya where he's at.

Condit's Last Tour Doesn't Cut It: Gary Condit and Family's last swing around the media-go-round has come to one big shrug . The feckless California congressman has terminal Clintonitis. He just can't say the words that would set him free.

Polls Apart: All day yesterday we heard that the Gallup poll says that 10,000 Muslims don't believe Arabs were responsible for the attack on America. How nice for the pollsters that they made it home from the haj in time to answer the phone. We find the way this poll is being presented as reminiscent of the "Arab Street" talk by the Quagmirists. More information anyone?

LDotter Note: We are receiving an enthusiastic response from Ldotters for our new little feature, Lucianne.com Must Reads. We are happy you like it and want you to know that it will be updated throughout the news day. This is to feed your addiction to this site, drive up our stats and ad revenue and feed the bloodsuckers who provide our bandwidth at usurious rates. In the end, it's all a wash financially, but it's worth it.

Did anyone see Fritz Hollings on the news yesterday? Godo heavens! Drunk or senile.

That should be "good," before anyone nitpicks.
