75mm on a M3greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
I am a user of leica R cameras (R6.2, SL) and I am looking to pick up a well used M3 to add to my kit. Does any one shoot the 75mm summilux on a M3. The magnification helps, but there are no frame lines.

I have shot the 75/1.4 with my M3 before. You can use the 90mm lines or pick the new Voigtlander 75mm finder. I would go with the finder. With a long rangefinder base, the M3 is the best M to shoot the 75/1.4 and 50/1.0.

Does the 75mm Summilux bring up the 90 lines on an M3?

The 75 brings up 50mm framelines on ANY M camera - 'cept of course the MD/M1 8^)the 50 and 75 frames always go together - same cam position on the frame selector.

Mike Dixon has been using his 75 on an M3... As a matter of fact, he is doing a model shoot with it tonight, so I suspect he'll be able to give you a more definitive answer sometime tomorrow...Cheers,

Jack, you're correct in general but off on the specifics. See my post a few spots above this one for more info.I made a post a couple of days ago regarding using the 75 on an M3. Look down the page a bit.
Both posts are titled "75 'Lux Adventures" (and will be under Leica Adventures in the archives).
