PARIS SAINT GERMAIN are ready to tell Sylvain Distin that his future remains at Parc des Princes. The 23-year-old defender was allowed to move to Newcastle on loan for the whole season in August and has played a key role for Bobby Robson during his time in the North East.

But despite his good form, the St James' Park club are seemingly unwilling to pay over-the-odds for the Frenchman.

Distin's displays on Tyneside, however, have not gone unnoticed by his Parisien employers and now they are ready to welcome him back at the end of the season.

Distin himself has stated he would rather stay with Newcastle when his loan expires, but he may not get the option with PSG almost certain to tell him that they want him stay.

PSG have a number of players, like Distin, who have been allowed to leave on loan for the whole season.

Of those Peter Luccin - in Spain with Celta de Vigo, Nicolas Anelka at Liverpool and Pierre Ducrocq, currently with Derby, are all believed to have been told that they will not feature in next season's plans.

However, Aliou Cisse, who was sent to Montpellier, will be given a chance to claim a first team spot at PSG.

PSG will also push through a deal for on-loan Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta, who has been a massive hit in Paris this season.

It looks like being a busy summer for coach Luis Fernandez, who will also look to seal permanent deals for Fabrice Fiorese and Jerome Leroy, who joined on loan from Guingamp and Marseille respectively.

The club are also continuing to negotiate with Nigerian star Jay-Jay Okocha over a new deal.

Oh sh*t.

Don't panic. It's a PSG negotiating ploy. We've got an option to buy Distin, hewants to stay with us, we'll be in the Champs League, and PSG will agree to £4.5m rather than the £3.5m we want to pay, or the £5m they're asking for now he's playing out of his socks. Failing that, we could offer Elliot in p/x (well, maybe the last bit was a tad optimistic).

Elliott part x? They're not that daft.

Perhaps he can take a leaf out of Domi's book and simply not go home? Or do PSG think it's one way traffic?

And another thing. If PSG are looking to sign so many of the players they've taken in on loan, they'll need the cash. There's no guarantee that they they'll get anything near want they paid for Anelka, always assuming someone wants him. I heard the lads at 'Pool aren't that impressed.

I wouldn't read too much into this report. Even though the 'Option to Buy' may not be binding, the player himself will have a big say in what ultimately happens - especially if we qualify for the CL.

My instinct is that Mysterious is correct - this seems likely to be a fairly transparent negotiating ploy.

According to YBR, they can't up the original price they quoted in the loan contract.

Which is how much? Anything up to about £4m seems fair enough to me.

Typical that the French gits are trying to get more money. Not enough we paid so much for Robert there trying to rip us off for Distin as well. I'd laugh if he refused to return or slapped in a transfer request. Why go back after being treated unfairly.

That could be THE issue dougal, and would tie in perfectly with my own experience of dealing with the French on contractual matters.

If the transfer fee is indeed specified in the Loan Agreement, then the only way PSG can realise a higher fee is to circumvent the Option (presumably non-binding) by saying they need him and he is no longer available for transfer.

".....now, of course, if you were to consider paying a higher transfer fee we might possibly be able to reconsider our position".

Bloody Froggy Tossers - tell 'em to stick it where the sun don't shine. This is 'approximately' what Shepherd will tell them, and I trust him to sort them out on this one.
