So what's the scoop with Dyer and Cort

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Wasn't Dyer supposed to back in full training last week and Cort isn't Cort just awaiting a recall, which should come once Bellamy gets his suspension.

So what do we do with our sub situation?? We have four available spaces excluding the Keeper. Cort, Dyer, Ameobi, LuaX2, Acuna, Elliott. I think we need at least one place per position on the bench ie Elliot defensivly, Acuna midfield and two attacking options. Nice to have a realativley healthy squad at the mo. I think Distin is going to make the left back slot his own. I also forgot young Andy G.

I'd guess Robson's first 16 is

Given, Harper

Hughes, O'Brien, Dabizas, Distin, Elliot

Solano, Dyer, Speed, Robert, Jenas

Shearer, Bellamy, 2 out of Cort/Shola/Lua2

Still don't think we have enough cover for Shearer, and no one for Bellamy.

I think Cort will come in a do a great job for us, once defenses get bollock tired of chasing Bellars all over the place bring on Cort to provide a finshing touch. I

Hang on. Wadsworth moved on from there a while back.

It's difficult to see how he can force his way into the side if 19yr old JJ walks straight into a high pressure derby game. I've mellowed my opinions but still don't feel he offers us anything in the long term...except ballet lessons

Read in the Mail that Dyer 'broke down' in training on Monday, and his return will be delayed. Doesn't say how long by. Anyone know anyone about this, or is it just journalistic license?

Michael Walker Tuesday February 26, 2002 The Guardian

'Keiron Dyer's injury troubles took another twist yesterday when the Newcastle midfielder pulled up in training, leaving him possibly three weeks away from full fitness. A return in mid-March would leave Dyer with only one or two Newcastle matches in which to prove to Sven-Goran Eriksson that he is ready for England's friendly with Italy at Elland Road on March 27.

Dyer's participation in that squad is regarded as crucial to Eriksson as he assesses the vacancies in his World Cup squad, but Dyer is being urged to slow down his comeback by Newcastle's medical staff.

Last week Dyer returned to training with the Newcastle first team ahead of schedule, but this latest setback is evidence of the delicacy of his shin and foot injuries'. Just thought I'd answer my own question.
