I might as well start it.

How did he do on his starting debut ??

I think he did rather well, and we have a real class player on our hands. Let him have another 6-7 matches this season, and let him work on the weights (he is skinny, but has the stature to be ok).

If you think of that this was the biggest match, his first start in a premier league game and that his is only 19, I would say he did splendid !!

Only watched the gameon Sky but I thought he did pretty well. He loks like a good passer of the ball, has some good pace and looked composed. It wasn't exactly an easy game for him to come in and play. He got nailed in the first few minutes but didn't let if effect him. I thought he got better as the game went on and kept moving the ball well from side to side.

The people who were at the match will probbaly be able to give a better account of hi performance though.

He needs a few pies. However both Bellamy and Dyer have 'filled out' with either good upper body work with the fitness coaches or lots of Gregg's stotties. So hopefully it won't take too long.

Reminds me a bit of Carrick. Similar height and role in the team.

I thought he started nervously, grew in confidence as the game spread out and looked like an excellent prospect. In particular showed some class on the nearside wing in the 2nd half. I think we've got a great little player for the next 10 years :-)

PS - anyone else spot just how big his boots were? Calm down lasses...

I was a bit shocked that Bobby chucked him in at the deep end like that but he responded well. Can't say that he bossed midfield but he certainly didn't crack under a lot of pressure (and a few kickings) and he had the confidence to have a couple of shots at goal later on. For parts of the game he seemed to be a little anonymous, I think that was because he did the simple thing well and got rid of the ball quickly. If he stays in the side these next couple of weeks will be a hell of an introduction to the Premier Leauge.

Most encouraging thing for me was the vision he showed with some of his passes, and his coolness. Nothing spectacular, but just showed an awareness which I would have thought difficult to coach.

He linked up brilliantly with Nobby on the 2nd half, and defended the ball well in midfield. I am beginning to believe some of the hype on this lad. He could be the one to make our central MF.

A good start to what could be a glittering career and a love affair with the fans.

The thing I noticed most was that throughout the game he was picking up people in the main battleground - central m/f - frequently nicking the ball away, never let them settle on the ball, and laying off the ball simply. As he gained in confidence during the 2nd half, he started showing brief flashes of his undoubted skills and passing ability - as well as continuing to do the ugly stuff.

as well as continuing to do the ugly stuff.

I think you'll find that was number 17 not number 7 Clarky.

Didn't he make the pass for the Bellemy "off-side" goal?
