In love with Lavender...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

It is my new favorote smell. I love things that smell good. I ahd to go pick up the kids glasses last night, and they wanted to look in the Dollar Tree for some school supplies they needed. Megan came and got me and told me she had found some of that Yardley's soap I like so much, and also some lotion. They had the oatmeal and almond, and lavender. I bought 3 bottles of lotion and 3 soaps (my extravagance of the month!!!) The lavender is so awesome, I am just walking around smelling my hands. Good thing no one is here to see me!!!!!!

Oh lavender! Yardley also makes a lavender cologne or toilet water and I used to love it. the last time I came across it at Wal-Mart, I sampled it and, maybe it's just my nose but, it just didn't smell as nice anymore. The soap smelled just as wonderful as did the lotion. I wonder if they changed the formula.

Hello, I was in dollar general yesterday and saw that they also sell the yardley soaps in the three bar packages for 2 dollars. That is cheaper than the dollar tree for a dollar a bar. I use to buy mine at the dollar tree also. They had the oatmeal and almond and the lavender. I didn't notice the lotions there at dollar general but i did see them at big lots. I always try to save whenever I can. I hope this helps.

If you love lavender, then do yourself a real favor, indulge in some REAL pleasure and plant yourself some lavender...Each time you walk through your garden, simply rub the lavender stems between your hands and you'll be swept away and enchanted!

I do have several plants in my herb garden. I am going to plant some more this year too!

If you have a wood stove going, and keep a water pan on top to put moisture in the air, put in a few drops of lavender essential oil. I put a drop of lavender EO on my deodorant stone before using it. I can smell it all day. I have had people hug me and say, oh you are wearing some sort of lavender perfume...it smells so nice.... You can make little sachets with the dried flower buds (which I sell....=) ) to put in your lingerie drawers...

Marci, do you sell the essential oils? I have not found them locally, but have read about them at Laines Letters and want to find some. She said she puts a drop of lavender, or eucalyptus (sp?)in her cleaning water and her house smells great all day.

I've been in love with lavender since my first bar of Yardly soap back in the 60's. I put a few drops of the oil in a spray bottle of water to spritz my clothes before I iron them. It makes every thing I iron have a faint scent. A few weeks ago I was killing time in the pharmacy waiting for a prescription. I found that Johnson & Johnson makes a baby powder that is lavender scented. I bought some and its wonderful. Has a truer smell than Yardley. Blessings Peggy
