Summary of votes in the wedding film poll!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Thanks to everyone who rendered an opinion on what film's best for weddings using a Leica M. Interestingly, Kodak Porta dominated, w/ Fuji Reala a close second. Here are the results (w/ a bit of interpolation, due to participant waffling!): Porta 400 NC -- 4 Fuji Reala -- 3 Fuji Press 800--2 Porta VC -- 1 Porta 160 NC-- 1 Fuji NPH 400 -- 1 Not one endorsement for Fuji NPS 160! Thanks again-- Pat

Add one more vote for NPH. It wouldn't surprise me if Portra works just as well, but I'm happy with NPH and too lazy to switch.

Portra also won the 'all-puropose' thread with 4 votes but close behind was NPH with 3 votes!

With Mike & Giles chiming in, NPH draws even w/ Reala. So it's Porta at 4, Reala & Fuji NPH at 3. I didn't personally vote, but have using NPH as well & would have voted for it myself. That brings Porta & NPH into a tie... Perhaps, all in all, we're lucky to continue to have great choices in quality film.

My only comment here is that Portra 400 NC is closer to 400 real speed. NPH I shoot at 250 in 35mm, or 320, whereas you can shoot the Portra at 400 and it is fine. I like both films very much and NPH is my favorite if I have the light for it.
