2500? AFAIK these cameras are the same, at least as far as possibilities and funcionality are concerned. Maybe there are some internal differences.

Yes, the differnce does seem to be 2500. Otherwise the newer 3000N looks like a rebadged 500N.

There may well be minor technical differences between them, but I didn't comb through the specs exhaustively.
