It's beginning to look a lot like SPRING!

I've got SPRING FEVER!!

Temps have been in the 60's. Daffodils are ready to burst open at any minute. Baby pigs squealing. Goose setting. Creek running.

And the green grass grows all around, all around, and the green grass grows all around!

I have a daffodil blooming, the citrus trees are budding new leaves, the redbuds are blooming. Looks like spring, but I'm holding my breath on frost till Easter.

Well I don't want to hear about it! We also have signs of spring but it is still to early to even begin seedlings inside. That would help to alleviate some of the frustration caused by hearing/reading everyones musings. Ahhhh! It will be here soon, but I won't be able to seriously dig in the dirt until mid-May or later. Maybe I should conside moving to a place where spring comes like the rest of the world. I can truly say though that we here in the northern climates know how to appreciate a season. And nothing looks better than spring or summer, especially aftrer a hard winter.

Enjoy what you have, and will someone plant something for me?

Well, we're a quite a ways from spring in Upstate NY, but I did hear Canadian geese yesterday morning while I was doing chores. This was an extremely mild winter for us, very mild temperatures.

I'm hoping for spring--soon.

Well it's felt like and looked like spring most of the winter here until now ! We just got dumped on about 1 foot of snow over the weekend , and what did the weather man call for ??????? 1-2 inches ! Wish I could get a job that paid me to screw up .

-- Patty {NY State} (fodfarms@hotmail.com), February 20, 2002.

Hey Patty, maybe the weatherman slipped and hit his pinky on the hyphen. It may have supposed to have been 12 inches....LOL! My daughter would absolutely be thrilled to death with a foot of snow. She is a real snow bunny! I am more of a sunflower!!!! We are up here in NE Ok and are looking at a sunny day after a very very wet yesterday! I saw a robin on the chicken yard fence last week! YIPPY!

Ouote from my late, dear father in law--"Don't be fooled by spring, she's only true, if the dogwoods are blooming in the woods!"

I remember him saying that every time I get ready to plant too soon! Happy Spring time!

Its been "spring " here in north Alabama for about two weeks. Cruel though, cause we still have to prepare for the predicted cold spells.

-- Jay Blair in N. AL (jayblair678@yahoo.com), February 20, 2002.

I know I can't "really" start my planting yet. We almost always have one more hard cold snap with ice or snow after the daffodils bloom. That's my own personal observation, so YMMV. It's spring enough to get me excited and itching to get my hands in the dirt.

I can plant roses and - if I can find them - fruit trees. If anyone in NE Oklahoma or NW Arkansas knows a good place to get fruit trees locally, I'd sure like to hear about it.

I'll think of you northerners as I plant my roses this week. I don't think there are enough seed catalogs in the world to get me through a long, cold winter!

-- Mona in OK (modoc@ipa.net), February 20, 2002.

Patty if the weatherman job doesn't work out you could always go into politics. Sent my seed order in as I really can't plant until next month in the house and first of may outside. Think the time to fill these orders out should be late august I think they might be more reasonable. gail

My pair of Meadowlarks came today, and it really did "sound" just like spring. We, me and the birds, always whistle back and forth, and they remember me every year. The high winds and thunderstorms today felt like spring too. I've been calling them Day Lillies, but I guess there're Daffidills, they are blooming. And the Naked Ladies are showing themselves.

Well, the dogwoods, redbuds, maples and native plums are blooming in the woods here in North Florida. My blueberries and pears are blooming and the apples are leafing out. Sure looks like Spring has sprung here though I just know we're going to get one more freeze before the end.

Big storm system supposed to move through tonight. Sure hope *this* time we get some rain!

We've been having spring weather, but know better. Plus the darn groundhog from Punxsutawney said 6 more weeks of winter!! But I'll take it. This has been the most mildest winter for us in years - hardly any snow at all, and warmer temps than usual. The one thing I can remember as a kid 30 years ago, was we would have snow on the ground from December to April. Not any more. The weather is changing, but I don't know if it's for the better. Less snow, but also alot less moisture. I think we are like 16" under usual precipitation. Some places in PA already have drought warnings out. But maybe we will get some April showers?!?

I guess spring is going to wait for awhile in the next week we have the coldest nights yet at least that is the forcast. After the 72 today those single digets look so cold.

-- gail missouri ozarks (gef@getgoin.net), February 24, 2002.

We're getting that cold too Gail. I can't stinkin believe it. Down to 13 this comming week. It's going to be 61 today. At LEAST it only will be here 4 days, then gone again. I gotta go scrounge up some firewood today, the pile is gone, but we did not spend even one dollar this year on wood. Instead we spent 75 on a new chainsaw.

-- Cindy in KY (solidrockranch@msn.com), February 25, 2002.

-6 degrees this morning with 13" of new snow yesterday on top of 12" of old. brr.
