Just bought the above gears, want to hear opinions about the performances, particularly when shooting wide open the aperture. Is this lens good for portrait, sport or close-up? For close-up,is it better to use extension tube rather than close-up filter?

If you've already bought it, why don't you go and try it out and see if it works to your satisfaction? Are you looking to be soothed that you bought the right thing?

>Is this lens good for portrait, sport or close-up?

50mm lenses are typically considered too short for portraits as they tend to widen people's faces in an unflattering fashion. They're too short for sports unless you're right there on the field. And they can't focus near enough for closeups unassisted.

However, they're perfect for general purpose photography especially at low light levels. You can't beat a 50mm lens for high quality photos for low cost.

Must have hit a nerve NK.

Actually, Albert, NK Guy gave you some good answers. You might have been just a bit too hasty in your condemnation.

Okay. So you've firmly established that you're a racist, sexist scumbag. (assuming you actually wrote the followup and not somebody else)

I regret ever offering you the free advice.

I am a frequent reader of this forum because of the insightful opinions (from Issac, Bob, Puppy face.....) that were more than beneficial to me as well as other readers. I have always been a grateful reader but your reply to NK GUY gave me the impulse to post my very first response on this forum......your comment was utterly disgusting. "you fucking bitch ass nigger"?????? what's the matter with you? i mean, for god's sake if you had actually READ what NK GUY posted you know he was trying to help, not to mention that his response was indeed helpful. yes, his first line wasn't necessary but yours was absolutely not tolerable.

This, and another thread lead me to believe someone was posing as other people on one day, as someone imitated sajeev also (I think in the thread above this one). One of those sad little individuals one comes across on the internet, who just puts strife into forums like this one, rather than using it for good.
