Still Winning!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just thinking over the last 10 games or so. Have Newcastle actually played to their true potential?? I mean reading the reports, no-one has said 'everyone played really well and most of the things we tried came off' The reason I am saying this is that we are still winning most of the games we play without stepping into top gear. When Dyer got injured we were all down, but we have won all the games since. I just think that Newcastle are going to click as a team against someone and give them a real thrashing. We havent had a five goal spree this season and we nearly always do. Lets hope its next Sunday!! AM

What you've said is the reason why none of us actually believe we'll win anything this season (ever). We have played well in games but we've rode our luck and come out the end with wins. But the better you are the more luck you seem to get

You make your own luck ?

..... actually, a more accurate phrase is "the harder we work the more luck we seem to get" - but can't think who it was who said it.

Whatever defficiencies we have as a side, they do work hard - well most of 'em anyway.

It was a golfer Clarky - Gary Player or Arnold Palmer.

I too keep waiting for the team to thrash someone. We haven't really done that this season and i can't help feeling it will come at some point. I agree that if it happened on Sunday i would be mightily happy.

Bolton away, Boro home and away and Villa were close to thrashings I would suggest.

Yeah but a real thrashing is 5 or 6. 4 is just a bit more than an emphatic win!

Leeds home and away was a thrashing, no matter what the score. And 3:1, with a fluke first minute goal against, is a thrashing by itself for me.

Actually you're right Linda. We need to put five past someone. And it's due. Now, if I could only designate the team to beat 5-0... hmm..

I designate whoever we play against in the Cup Final, don't care who it is as long as we get there and we do the 5-0

"the harder we work the more luck we seem to get" - I do believe it was Steve Davis.

As for 5-0 - lets win the last 2 games of the season 5-0 - Cardiff v somebody and Soton - about time we stuffed them in the South.
