Depends. If you're talking about a consumer who bought some, probably nothing. If you're talking about a dealer or someone who knowingly manufactures pirate VCDs, then I guess they would be subject to whatever legal penalties apply where they live.

Since most pirate VCDs are from Malaysia, and that's an Islamic country, don't they take your hands off? ;-)

Silly, of course not. In Malaysia no doubt it's a islamic country but we are not barbarian. We have freedom of speech, religions and you can wear anything you want but not naked of course. I am Chinese and a Malaysian and i love my country.

Yes Malaysia is indeed a central of pirated VCD movies but our goverment are cracking down hard on dealers and manufacturer of such VCD movies.

So if anyone of you out there, please visit Malaysiaif you have the time. It's a beautiful country, beautiful peoples and you will love it. Thanks

And oh, Turkey too.

For all their worth, American-made DVDs may be expensive but are superior in terms of better quality, extra features (e.g. trailers, commentary), whereas from my experience many Hong Kong, Malaysian and Singaporean DVDs are cheaper but sometimes have poorer quality and only an extra set of subtitles or even nothing else at all.
