Musical devices expressing melancholy and the repetitive escalation of obsession. Symbolism of the bird that the narrator himself chooses to invest into a dialogue that spirals into a psychological self-trap. Raven, Bust Of Pallas- wisdom, prophecy, Plutonian shore(death). Classical references and metaphor. A story outline moving within the mind of the narrator. A touch of supernatural haunting that repels the self-consoling narrator. Irony in that all the devices, symbols are artiifices then a consuming dismay by the writer himself playing off the presence of the Raven.
