Xatshow from www.xat.com is reputedly even better.

I don't think Xatshow can add audio

The latest version can. And not the freeware version. You've got to fork over $39 for the works. It doesn't do MPEG tracks or anything; it exploits the whole area of hi-res (704x480/576, everyone take note; NOT your low-res conventional 352x240/288 VCD) still MPEG production all legal and compliant under White Book to get at our Holy Grail: affordable, reliable, easy to make, good-looking slide shows, with or without music, that will play on domestic DVD players that read VCDs and CD-R/RW. Not as mish-mashed as any version of Adaptec/Roxio, who have NEVER been able to do the same in any guise. Nero is okay by now but no music.

Yes you can add audio (music) to your slide show by Xatshow, but VCD player will not play it, only DVD player can play back. Xatshow also save a file to your screen saver.

Oh yes my dear my VCD (only, NO DVD) player played it back happily too: Panasonic SLPV45. It's for all practical purposes a VCD; the emphasis on still MPEG in the form of itemxxxx.dat files in the SEGMENT directory DIDN'T make it any less so.
