I thought I'd give Susan her own thread, because I realize we might all have questions that only she can answer, and there might even be tasks that she'd normally engage in to help the Nominating Committee do its work, so I thought we could use this thread to work on addressing both her requests of us, and our requests of her.

So, this part is also to her:

Hi Susan;

Thanks for hopping into the Forum.

Do you think you could stay in the Forum until we're actually covering material that you can't? A better question might be if the Nominating Committee were actually meeting, would you be present?

Also, what might (if any) your assistance to the Nom Com look like if we were actually getting together right now? Would you take any time to prepare material - say, a list of current board members, past board members, etc? Are there any other things that the ED has done in the past to help the Nom Com?

If you would normally prepare any of those things and provide them to us, would it be possible to post them here? Thanks!

Answers

As I read over the notes I took at the meeting, You are correct in your assumptions. The nominating committee will find and select enough candidates to fill open seats. The Journal will make it clear that other candidates are welcome to declare their candidacy.

A question: Are you going to ask the 2 board members intersted in running again to fill out the questionaire so I have updated info for the ballot?

Hi Susan, I sent a complete nomination packet to Annie Hoy yesterday. What I heard the board say at the meeting was to come up with only as many candidates as we have slots. If that's the case, if I heard correctly, then I'd like to wait until we hear back from Annie before contacting Bruce. Unless you think the board feels differently and that I misinterpreted. I'm not sure where else to put this information without treading in areas I don't belong.

There are three positions open for the upcoming election. The people filling those positions right now are Nancy, Javelin, and Dana. Javelin and Dana would like to run again. Nancy would like to step aside for a year to deal with personal as well as work related issues.

Response to The Susan Schecter Thread

Thanks for setting up this thread. I am not terribly comfortable contributing on the other threads.

First, please correct my last name in all paperwork and correspondences. It's a pet peave of mine. Thanks.

For obvious (I think) reasons, my involvement with the Nom Com in the past has been limited. I can provide information, copies of materials, and make copies, send things to candidates, etc. Let me know what you need and I will provide it. I do not get involved in the actual process, just facilitating. Is that clear as mud?

If the committee was actually meeting, I would not be present.

There is currently a list of board members and steering committee members. It is in a Word document and can easily be posted here. As I said (wrote), let me know what you need or want and I will do my best to provide it.

What I have done in the past includes sending e-mails/faxes/snail mail packets to potential nominees and forwarding info from potential nominees to Nom Com members.
