First the limitation is beautifully embodied in the single perspective of the madman who alone gives us the sparse details of plot and scene colored completely by his degrading and constantly escalating obsession. There is no escape from the emotional rollercoaster of his point of view. There is no object or description not caught up in his internal drama. Sound and sight portray the supernormal acuity of his senses and escalate to the rhythm of his heart and imagination. So the tale portrays the emotion in motion of the narrator to its two fold climax(murder and confession, or act and revelation, heart of victim and killer's heart wedded in guilt)the double heart beat. Simply looking at all the details and how they are presented by the inescapable focus of the madman will guide you to the rest of the paper.
