World's 2nd Designer Baby Born in UK

02/16/02 Britain's first designer baby was welcomed into the world on Friday. The baby girl was manipulated genetically to produce cells capable of curing her older brother's leukemia. There are currently three other women pregnant with similarly genetically pre-designed babies elsewhere in the world. The UK birth is the second such birth in the world. The first designer baby was made right here in the good ol' USA -- also custom built with spare parts necessary to cure his sister's anemia.

I cant wait for them to perfect cloning of body parts,, no more transplant lists,, no more rejections and such,, but i dont know about hving a child for spare parts for another,, why not just mercy kill the first one,, and keep the second,, (its the same line of reasoning)

Forgive me, but I see a bit of counselling in this kids future.

I can certainly see it from the parents point of view -- the fact is you do WHATEVER it takes to save your childs life. Period. But I sure hope that the younger sibling understands that as they grow up. It will take a lot of extra love and guidance on the part of the parents.
