To be honest... I really don't know. I'd like to say anytime now, but I really haven't heard much. Aqua's conceeded to the next knockout tournament, so MC3 is next, but I don't even know when THAT is starting. I guess the wait continues... GB9

Okay - I'm annoyed. REALLY annoyed.

Three months and change ago I'd mentioned that there was going to be a second run of 7DBS, which would incorporate quite a few changes that would have made it (1) less like I'm dictating what games you're playing (2) more interesting (3) something that would probably have been more successful.

I got a total of TWO responses. Thank you, Joey and "Tenchi".

The lack of response from people who wanted to take part wasn't the part that annoyed me, though.

What annoyed me was, despite my asking for help from GB9, being ignored. To be honest, it makes it seem as if, even though people are wondering about when the next tournament is, there's no actual interest in one.

I do remember, at one point, roughly two weeks after the original 7DBS, Ben Jos and GB saying that maybe it'd be more successful if I'd asked for help.

Anyway, I'm sorry for venting on you guys.

7DBS, Season 2, is still open for teams to register; if you'd like to enter, e-mail me the following:

Joey and Tenchi: You guys just need to send me the list of ten games.

GB9: Please make some sort of mention of this on the main page, and I'd also like help setting up a page just for 7DBS.

The qualifying rounds will begin either once we have eight teams or March 17, whichever is later.

More information is here - disregard the dates in that message, as they will be moved forward at least six weeks.

Thank you.

I'll take the blame for that. I'll make sure I get a link within 72 hours. If I don't get it up - flame me, k? :)

Let me know when you get a full webpage up so I can link to it - I can't give a webpage off MARP personally.

Meet me on IRC sometime. You're not in trouble. :) GB9

What version of MAME will you allow? I need to make sure that the games I choose will be supported by the version we will be using. Thanks.

If .59 is released by March 17, I'll make a tournament-worthy version of it - otherwise, I'll be hacking up .58 with assorted bugfixes to make an unofficial version where most of the games work.

Hopefully the Namco System NA1/2 games are functional for this.

As for the website... It'll be up at http://rashidan.com/7dbs - but I'm going to need some CGI help for this. Anyone with knowledge of Perl out there?

Hi Matt. I know quite a bit of Perl. What kind of help do you need? If it's "I've written these scripts and I can't quite figure out why they don't work" then I'll probably be able to help. If it's "I don't know any Perl, please write me some scripts" then I probably won't. Either way, I'm hoping to be snowboarding down some Alps for the next 7 days or so, so I won't have too much time to spare for thinking about Perl. But if you're not in a rush, I'll be back next Sunday and ready for some Perl consultancy... :o) I might even reduce my rates a little for you. Ha ha.

Chris.

I need to learn Pearl. Heh.

Heh, I was going to try and teach myself Perl first - if you can suggest any good books, please do. :-)
