Platinized Leica R is rare.

In 1989, a Platinized Leica R6 was auction off at Christie's in London for a hefty 26,400 pound sterling.

Minox also made 1000 limited edition Minox Platin

The Minox Platin in my collection has serial number Pt 255 engraved on the camera body (inside), not a CLX style sticker

According to gold assayer Johnson Matthey's 2002 gold report platinum has replaced gold as the favourite jewellery in China, particulary among younger generation, they love european style diamond rings with platinum setting

The sale of platinum in jewellery and electronics in China surged 18% last year to 1.3 million oz, and accounts for 51 % of total world consumption of platinum

China has replaced Japan as the No one consumer of pt.

The consumption of pt in Japan is 0.71 million oz

North Americans used only 0.28 million oz.

What about Canada, Martin?

;-)

Martin, you seem to be the lone poster on this forum carrying a flag for all the collectors out there who must be reading this forum. I wonder why others do not post?

I'm not one and have no interest in collecting, but presumably that is an admissible interest subgroup for this forum? Tony?

Mani, I am not a collector myself, however, my interest in Leica/Minox includes collectible

In Canada, the consumption of gold far exceeds platinum, although platinum rings with carat diamond are quite popular here.

Canada is among the top four main producer of gold metal, Placer Dome, Teck Corporation also produce some platinum and silver.

Investor interest in precious metal is on the rise again, help to strengthen Canadian dollar vs US$.
