Danny Cadamarteri has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The accusation follows the Everton striker's trial last year over the assault of 25-year-old lapdancer Joeline Joel in Liverpool city centre.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "We have charged 22-year-old Danny Cadamarteri, of Liverpool, with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice."
The player, who has only made two starts for Everton this season, will appear before Merseyside magistrates on Wednesday.
