Need info on transporting a doeling

I have a bit of a problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have to get a 15 day old Kid from the west cost to the east coast ASAP. The airlines will not ship her because she is too young. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Kelley, this is the age we ship at! I have always used Delta Dash, make sure it is counter to counter with no layovers. There are also pet carriers on the internet that ship dogs to shows etc. I would not recommend an overland haul for an infant. Unless it is a dairy goat person who raises bottle kids and is willing to do all the work it takes. You are talking to the wrong airlines! Vicki

I'm surprised you've been able to ship kids that young Vicki... I was sure the federal regulations say all animals must be 8 weeks old..at least the last time I read them...it's been awhile, I'll admit. Also, Delta doesn't have their DASH service anymore... I just called them about shipping last week...they call is "priority pet service" now...and it's not counter to counter either.... since Sept 11, I've had to be re-certified into their system, which included an on-site visit here, and enough documents to sign that you'd think I was at the attorney's office! sheesh! At least they're back up and running now. 15 days old is pretty young IMHO... :)patty Prairie Oak Miniatures http://www.minifarm.com/prairie_oak

You've got my curiosity piqued. What is the rush all about? Someone unable to take care of the kid?

I really didn't remember the 8 week rule, since all of us dairy folks just lie :) No really! We just shake our head yes, of course! I just called Delta Dash in Houston for my best friend who is shipping a buck and doe from Wyoming. Counter to counter, but then I have my name down as a shipper, I know that is not what it is called. Counter to counter here means no layovers, straight through. But then maybe they just answer their phones and are still listed as Delta Dash?

And yes, Kelley, why the rush? Vicki

Thanks everyone -- After a VERY LONG ordeal I did get the Kid to the east coast. She is well and doing great. Sort of a friend's friend who drove her cross country. The situation was that the current breeder did not want her and was setting to butcher her. She was from an old friends doe who has since passed. Just a sentimental reason for keeping her. THANKS again. -- Kelley
