"Wishing You Enough"--a Bible verse

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Maybe a week or so ago there were several of "if you had a million dollars" type questions. I answered some of them just for the fun of it. Then, when Dianne T. of Mass (I think) sign a post in her typical fashion ("Wishing you enough"), I thought of a couple of verses in Proverbs:

"...give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain." Proverbs 30:8-9

I have to admit, Cathy, that although I am familiar with that verse, that's not what led me to use "wishing you enough". That phrase just kinda sums up how I feel in general. I equate well-being with knowing when enough is enough and I'm just wishing everyone enough. Thanks.

Wishing YOU enough.

Cathy, your post reminded me of the contrast in spiritual blessings. Scripture emphasizes how Jesus' disciple has absolutely everything needed for life and godliness, and then a whole lot more! A truth I sometimes forget.

"My cup runneth over."
