Alot of Edgar Allan Poe's work is effected by his life. For example "the Masque of red death" (if you know Poe's life) is interesting because, that the time he wrote it, Poe had 3 people in his life die of TB, one of the symtumes of TB is the coughing up of blood. And Annibel Lee was written for his dead wife, Virgina. And i personailly think that The Tell-Tale Heart was kind of a subconcusion desire to get revenge to hie Foster Father.
