replacing focusing screen on EOS3000N

I have an EOS3000N which is Canon's entry-level (out of US) camera. The focusing screen is a type EC-III I believe, for AF cameras. Is it possible to replace this screen with the microprism type for MF?

The EOS 3000N does not have interchangable focusing screens. The only present EOS which do are EOS 1V, EOS 1D, EOS 3, EOS 5 (although I guess this is discontinued now). All EOS 1 models have interchangable screens. I don't know whether any of the EOS 6x0 series did, or the EOS RT.

The EOS 3000N does not even have a proper pentaprism (it uses mirrors instead).

I don't know where you've got EC-III from, but Ec-CIII is the standard focus screen for the EOS 1V (I don't know, but possibly the EOS 1D also), which carries the focus ellipse and partial metering circle appropriate to its focus and metering. Ec-CIII is similar, but not the same as Ec-N (EOS 3 standard screen). Ec-CIII is a darker screen than Ec-N, but offers much greater focus "snap", making MF easier. My personal preference is for Ec-CIII, and I shall have one in my EOS 3 when I get it.
