Valentine day on the homestead

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Last night at the woodcarvers meeting some one asked my wife what did we do for valentine day and she started out laughing and told the person and she stopped the meeting and told everyone The president and his wife have to be reconized as the most romatic couple in the club. We always remember that when valentine day comes around its time to go renew our concealed weapon permits, now lets see if any of you are that romantic. David and Judy.

I was born on November 13th, almost exactly nine months from Valentine's Day. I figure I'm the result of a box of chocolate.

See, life is really a box of chocolate.

P.S. Support the local economy. Buy your flowers from a local Mom & Pop florist rather than through a national company, such as FTD.

I got my very own wood splitting ax for Valentine's Day. DH whipped it out from behind his back like it was a bouquet of flowers. I was momentarily taken aback at first, but when you need to split wood, it's works better than a dozen long-stemed red roses. LOL

Wishing you enough.

A few years ago, we got a Sears gift certificate in Jan. for something. My husband took it and bought me a new pitchfork for Valentines day. The guys he works with laughed at him and were taking bets on how many times I would stab him with it. He tried to explain but they wouldn't listen. I loved it!

I have my son! He was supposted to be my Valentine's baby, we missed it by seven hours. He is a mama's boy and that's just fine. He'll be 12 years old on the 15th. Right now he is sleeping on the sofa sick, poor thing. Today is the Valentine's party at his school and he will miss it. He loves Valentine's day! For his birthday he just wants to go out to dinner.

I hope your lives are full of hearts!

Susan

My husband's favorite saying " what else could she want , she has ME?" LOL. I'll settle for a warm nite in front of the fire. We have both been working too much -- just doing nothing-will be nice!

May you be blessed with love, like everyday is Valentine's Day!

2002 Valentines Day is my 41st Anniversary, we don't do roses ( to expensive) just a quiet night together then on Sunday we are going to Big Cedar Lodge in Branson for brunch. He no doubt will spoil me with something, last year it was a new dulcimer. Sally

Happy 41st Anniversary! Have a great time! We don't celebrate Valentine's day...but when we were in Walmart he caught me looking at the pots of baby roses. The live ones that will grow in a flower bed. He MADE me get them. heehee! ;~)! What a sweetie pie! They are sitting by the window by the computer as we speak! Pretty pink ones. Everyone needs to be frivolous now and then! He usually gets me something from the hardware store and feed mill that he works for. Tiller was for my birthday and anniversary combined! He brought me home a couple of geese for my Mother's day gift. A hug would have been enough for me...but the roses are GREAT! :~D

Oh...forgot to add...he looked at our teenaged boys and said....This is how to score brownie points...take notes boys! heehee! Smart man!

Valentines Day is also my daughters birthday, so, we don't go anywhere special as a couple. We do daughters favorite meal and cake and ice cream.

Sometime either before or later we usually go out and have dinner. Our gifts are not expensive. We try to be very practial in this area (with 12 children).

My husband usually does Christmas, but not much else. Dinner out (with the boys) for our birthday, and a BIG surprise for our anniversary last year - a weekend trip to Dallas, shopping, movie, dinner out, nice hotel - total shock!

I told him last week while we were in Home Depot that I wanted a $25 gift card for Valentines Day so I could go in and pick out a bunch of bulbs and do a new flower bed with them! We'll see if I get it!

It's our anniversary on Valentine's Day as well. ( HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SALLY ) We usually don't do anything on the big day though. Too crowded everywhere you go, long waits - lousy service. We'll celebrate in a couple of weeks. I did buy the traditional chocolate though and will be careful not to end up with a "Ken!" :)

Happy 41st! We just celebrated our 41st a couple of weeks ago. Nothing like a well broke in husband. You never get them trained though do you? Thats ok, I would hate for the chalange to be gone.
