As no resonse to my fervent cry for ticket for the Arse game grateful for advice.

What would be the chances of getting a ticket if I went on spec and hung around the ground before the game or touted in the Strawberry. Do touts still sell them outside the ground as in days of yore??

Sound desperate but wont be home again till 2004 for the soccer season that is and last time I went twas against Grimbsy woops should not have menteioned that.

Anyhow grateful for any advise on the subject.

I guess you could try the box office - details of when they go on sale are on the official site.(:o)

They go on general sale from 21st Feb. If you are prepared to sit and hit the redial button on your phone, you might get one. Remember a certain proportion are sold on a match by match basis so you might get lucky. In fact I recently applied for extra tickets this way and was sucessful. Alternatively get your self up to SJP box office and queue.

I got my ticket for the Soton game through the box office. If you can phone up at 9 am on the 21at, you should be alright

See also recent NUFC Box Office thread.

I wonder if they actually ever opened the phone lines that day re the Man City match. Thousands were queuing in person outside - some overnight. I would gladly have done the same...if I wasn't 300 miles away. If anyone finds they have two spare...I'm willing to pay!

Derek

I've got a season ticket but whenever I've needed a spare, I've always managed to pick one up on the day but it can sometimes involve a couple of hours hanging around SJP. Here's my tips:

1. Hang about by the ticket office looking ticketless (can't describe the look, sort of hungry but not shifty). People with an absent mate's season ticket will usually find you and sell on at face value. BUT do the transaction away from the eyes of the police as you are committing an offence and make sure you get the stub as well as the ticket. You don't need the book.

2. Keep asking at the ticket office window if they have any returns. Sometimes there is a queue waiting for returns. These are corporate tickets which aren't picked up and are usually available about 15 minutes before kick off. If you are still ticketless after the game starts it's always worth asking one last time. Be nice.

3. There is very little touting at SJP but tickets do get sold on by bouncers at a lot of the pubs in town. A quick word that you're after a ticket, the bouncer gets on his mobile and you go back half an hour later to do the deal. The most I've ever been charged was £30 for a £24 ticket so hardly extortionate.

I cannot remember who I promised my spare to for the Arse, I'll ask about and if by Monday no-one rings a bell I'll keep it for you.
