Dear Alexander:
You are a tremendous soul; and our forum is fortunate to receive a message from you. Let me say I admire the sweetness of your words, with a flavor of salt sometimes, when English grammar and definitions fail you a little. So what!!! Love is plain and simple; words can't really make love more precious. You might be a poet in your native language. I wonder what country you come from?

All the lovely things you list in this good message are reflections of the Sermon on the Mount of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He said them very simply, and you work out your understanding of them in this loving reflection. If you are not a Christian, you speak like one. If you are a seeker after wisdom, come to Jesus Christ. Let us know what we can do to help you understand Him. If you already do, tell us more.

If you are a Russian, let me say I admire Solszhentsyn. I love Anna Akhmatova, and some of the soviet composers. All are people who have suffered. Not all might be believers. But we can still learn from them how a good man stands up to the world, during a cruel era.

You aren't very old, are you? Now you have friends in the United States; some old, some new. Keep writing to us, Alexander.

{Mr. Nevzorov told us (on another thread) that he is indeed from Russia. Here is his message, re-posted for -@-.-, in paragraphs.}

Dear Sir:
Why did you feel it necessary to tamper with another man's message, after he'd received a direct answer? I had no problem reading it. Now my reply to Mr. Nevsorov is upside your re-print. I would respectfully suggest, if something isn't broken don't fix it; at least allow a few hours to pass before interfering. Thank you.

-- eugene c. chavez (chavezec@pacbell.net), February 14, 2002.

Hi, Eugene.
I don't see that there is any problem. Perhaps you can explain better what is troubling you?

Did you not notice the post above yours? I don't know who the anonymous person was, but he/she wrote: "Please put in paragraphs so that I can read and understand. Thanks. [signed] -@-.- February 12, 2002."

I myself have been one of the people who have, from time to time, asked for long messages to be broken into paragraphs, for ease of reading. It is very hard on my eyes and brain to deal with such a big block as Alexander's. (He is new here and did not know how to break his post up, I'm sure.)

The fact that you "had no problem reading it" is of no benefit to those of us who had a big problem reading it." The person who broke up the big block did not "tamper with" the original message, but left the text unchanged and made it legible for me, for "-@-.-" , and for others. This was not "interfering" with the thread, but improving it. Something was broke, and someone needed to fix it.

Finally, the fact that the edited text is now below your reply is irrelevant, in my opinion. That fact ought not to cause anyone to miss reading and appreciating your good comments.

Gene, I have to be honest and say that your reaction seems unreasonable (even offensive).

St. James, pray for us.
God bless you.
John

Do you, John? I'm not at all surprised. I prefaced my remarks with a question. I closed with a Thank You. Actually something tells me the same person who quibbled about Mr. Nevzorov's paragraphing also tampered with his post. Why take a liberty with another person's note? How would you like it if you posted a note, and other people altered it without so much as a ''get-out-of-my-way''--? The same one who rudely said to Mr. N. ''Please put in paragraphs so that I can read and understand,'' could have simply made a friendly reply. After I did that, the thread was interrupted by an UNNECESSARY block of re-writing. My opinion; whether you agree or not, John. --I call them as I see them.

-- eugene c. chavez (chavezec@pacbell.net), February 14, 2002.

"I call them as I see them." [GC]

And the point is, Gene -- as I clearly explained -- you see this one wrongly. It is not even a matter of opinion this time. It is a matter of fact.

JFG
PS: I happen to know that there were two separate people involved -- the one asking for re-formatting and the one who did the re-formatting. So you are wrong about that too. (Please let it rest, with or without an apology. I don't care.)

-- (jfgecik@hotmail.com), February 15, 2002.

OK, John,-- And thanks, but I didn't ask you for an apology. I never addressed anything at all to you. You volunteered, as usual. No hard feelings, though; the both of us see clearly what our respective roles are, and how far we ought to go.
Thanks for your understanding; and God be with you.
