Infinity focus?? - Vivitar 28-210 for Olympusgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon FD : One Thread |
I am experiencing a problem with the Vivitar Series 1 lenses achieving infinity focus. In particular, the OM mount lens for the Olympus bodies will not achieve split image or matte area focus on distant objects +30 ft when set anywhere between 28mm and 80mm. The focus ring stops short of infinity focus. Above 80mm the infinity focus is ok. I've tried two brand new lenses on 3 different OM-1 bodies and found exactly the same problem. Vivitar has not been any help. Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences? Thanks

Check the lens mount of your camera. I thought I had a similar problem with one fairly hefty lens. It turned out my mount was ever so slightly loose and the lens was not snug up against the camera. I fixed it by opening the camera and tightening the screws holding the mount.I only noticed the trouble when my chosen lens was big enough for gravity to pull it down and away despite my grip on the focusing ring.

If the answer Robert gave you dosent work, I would check for incompatiablity, cause it should work smoothly I don't know anything about Olympus camera, but I have a Vivitar Series 1 working on a Canon with no problem.Lyle
