Hell, Andy, I used to drop lenses and crack filters on a weekly basis. If the lens keeps working, photos look okay and the mechanical and electronic functions work, don't worry about it. It's amazing how much abuse you can give delicate optical instruments.

I dropped a camera and lens about 3 feet onto a wooden floor and it was screwed. The barrel was locked solid, and the filter cracked. Pretty much the luck of the draw.

Run a film through and see if it comes out fine. If you've got another similar lens you can take comparison photos with that would be even better. If it works, and nothing rattles when you shake it you probably got lucky.

People have survived falls from aircraft, so why not a lens from 6 feet.
