An reserved withdrawal of my argument about goals. I just heard Aaron Hughes saying that even when the defence play badly, the front lads will score to bail them out. If this is their thinking, then we need to convert more chances. To be fair, my sister was blabbering on at the same time, and I may have missed a bit of what he said, but if this is the thrust, then we need more goals!

The only drawback with playing like that is that it's bliddy nerve racking. It's the games we lose by a single goal that'll be most painful.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I like a good hammering at least once a season. I just can't relax and enjoy our win until we're at least 4 goals in front of the oppo. 5 goals up, if the first 4 happen in the first half. ;-)

However, if Hughes' statement is at all reflective of the team's thinking it does make you worry. Scoring all the goals in the world won't change much if we're letting in almost as many. Nor will it frighten anyone into cowering in the face of the Toon juggernaut.

Ciara, so you "like a good hammering once a season"? Please expand on that...

Aye, I was wondering about that one as well...
