Omen

Today I attended a local derby. It was played in a stadium built for a team in red and white with the assistance of the local council. The away team usually wears black and white. The match was played on a Sunday because the plod feared trouble from the more moronic elements on both sides.

The black and white team spent the first 45 minutes absolutely p*ssing on the red and white team. How it was only 1-0 at half time was a mystery. They had two strikers who ran the red and white boys ragged and a couple of wide midfielders who were taking the mick out of their respective full backs.

The second half was a little more mundane but the red and white lads went through the entire 90 minutes without having a single shot on target.

Is this an omen for the 24th?

Same here, Jacko! Though I'm not sure my nerves can handle a match like that. ;-)

... Is this an omen for the 24th? ...

NO.

If we're good enough on the day, we'll stuff them, if we're not, they'll stuff us.

I saw what I hoped was an omen for the rest of the season on Saturday. I can't tell you what it was in case I jinx it - but if it happens then I will!!

As for the Makems - they have nothing to play for this season so I think to beat us becomes the only high point, so I suspect it's everything to them. Because of this we could easily get beaten, however we need the points which is the main thing, rather than any half-arsed rivalry thing with them. We're due a win over them though.

Nothing to play for??? Methiinks they need quite a few points to avoid the drop. They'll be playing for their lives.
