to my understanding,the book i am reading saya virginia clemm was poe's 13 year old cousin. is this true and was that legal?

True and legal though it raised objections and eyebrows. In such circumstances and as implied by Poe the marriage would not be consummated in her early years. He lived with Virginia and her mother as in a surrogate family that he never had nicknaming them "Muddy" and "Sissy"(Virginia). Later they seemed very romantic though there were no offspring. And that is ALL that is on record regarding their private sexual life.
