Bellamy

Just reading various match reports and cheeky bloody Paul Wilson in the Observer slags Bellers. Says 'his finsishing is atrocious, his goals to shots ration makes Andy Cole look clinical'

I accept he needs to improve his finishing but he was unlucky yesterday. I wouldn't say he was 'atrocious'. Grrrrrrrrrrr journalists!!!!!

Just to add my (late) two pennorth as I've only just got back from the Toon. Fantastic in second half I thought and should have murdered them.

BTW - mean RATIO not RATION!

Bellamy scoring goals is a bonus for me.

His main job is his movement and there is nobody quite like him at the moment.

If he didn't score another all season I'd still be happy. However, hitting the post and the side netting is hardly bad finishing. And Andy Cole had the best goals to shots ratio in the league last season, which is pretty clinical to me.

I saw that, Lynda, but I believe that bloke predicted we'd get relegated at the beginning of the season so he's obviously a Makem or similar.

He predicted we'd get relegated???

That is absoultely laughable, even the most pessimistic fan wouldn't say we'd go down. I assume he is either on peanuts or the Observer editor doesn't follow football.

He also predicted that the Makems would come 4th..In fairness, with a run, this could happen (particularly if they get Mbomo) although they'd be depending on a couple of teams dropping a few points..

Have you missed the word "bottom" out of your last post?

If they were to finish 4th TOP they would need at least 40 points from 12 matches, which by my reckoning isn't possible.

Granted that he's almost single-handedly transformed a toothless shower into a potent attacking force, but I'm increasingly getting the feeling that Bellamy is, how can i put it, a nasty little shit. Mouthy on and off the field, his Quayside activities have to my mind cemented his standing as the archetypal, well, Leeds player. Not a player I'm finding it easy to take to my heart.

If his finishing improves he will be an awesome player.

I saw him interviewed for Sky Sports the other week, and he actually came across ok. He said he had said some things he shouldn't when he first arrived at the club because of things he had read, and he apologised and said he had to mature. He also said that the nasty persona on the pitch was part of his game to make up for his size ! He reckoned if he was in the house alone he would have an arguement !! And that he was learning from Al and Bobby all the time and that is what he wanted to learn to become a better player all the time. He still wants to get faster etc.

As for off the pitch. The Spanish thing didn't seem too much of a deal. He has been great visiting sick kids in hospital. And I don't know what to make of the Quayside incident as we haven't heard his side of the story.

I saw that intvw too, Kats. Dunno, I just think at best he's immature.

Let's face it, Bellamy shouldn't have been out on the toon ... he's a premiership player that really ought to be looking after himself and tarting about on the toon. Worst of all are the North East papers who love blowing up a story ... they should be protecting our players and protecting the club..not making matters worst for their own financial benefit. Bellamy is young, he'll learn from this. Otherwise, Bobby will simply throw him out of the team and ruin his career. He doesn't tolerate unprofessionalism.

The ones who pissed me off were Cort and Quinn. Anyone else forced to stand through that pathetic display at Kingston Park will be equally delighted that they treated themselves to a night out afterwards. I suppose they had lots of energy to burn off having done f*ck all for the 90 minutes they were asked to play to earn their £x thousand for the week.

OPTA give him a 58% goal to shot ratio (and into the 1000s OPTA rating)

Andy Cole has 856 OPTA rating and 25% goal to shot ratio

So, someway to go before he matches 'Andrew' then.

Also, Bellamy is a difficult player to play against, and his gobbiness doesn't help. But, he strikes me as a Kevin Gallacher type who you love to hate when playing against him. His off-field antics are something else completely - I doubt we'll ever hear his side of things now the club are imposing sanctions.

Sorry, Andy wasn't even that good - OPTA rating of 826 :-)

Cant agree with saying Bellamy is a nasty piece of work. Okay the quayside thing was regrettable but it happens all the time down the quayside. Whether he should have been there in the first place and 'that hes a footballer he should know better' is a different argument. On the pitch hes not malicious, his yellow cards are for shouting his mouth off, nothing else. He hasnt been booked in the last five games and so shows he is learning. He is 21..he can only get better and what better teachers than shearer and robson. Dont fall for the tabloid propoganda, they dont want a Newcastle to win the league and are desperate to show the toon in a bad light. Dont think so then remember John Terry being charged with ABH. Hardly anything was made in the local and national press. If that had been Dyer then all hell would have broken loose!!!

Something else we should remember is that he personally has set up a scheme whereby he, separately from the general NUFC scheme, visits bairns at the RVI. This didn't come from him: it was mentioned in passing in the matchday programme and was written in such a place that you could blink and miss it. Bad tempered little get who needs to calm himself down but not fundamentally bad.

I had a row with my dad at the match , he was shouting score bellamy you woman beating tw*t ( i was shocked he doesnt often swear), I was saying hang on now you dont know what that lass said or did , I reiterrated a story from one of my locals a year or two ago. I was in the pub playing pool with me cousin, two lasses ask if they can play , sure i said just put your dosh on the table. Are you not gonna pay for us then she asked , No im not i said she then set off in a parade of obsenities calling me a cheapscate student **** &%^%^& ^& &%^%?)*& etc etc etc . Suffice to say i told her where 2 go , then she gets her boyfriend all 3'2" of him and told him i called her a whore ( I did not). In the end she had the whole pub of blokes wanting to kick my head in for not paying for her to play pool i had to be kept in the pub and let out the back door. Now I should have just punched her lights out at least she couldnt have stirred it.
Now if bellamy has had similar i dont blame him at all for giv ing the lass a slap, he obviously hasnt punched her or worse or hed have been arrested and charged with ABH or Assualt not just warned or cautioned.
