whats a "King James Bible"?

-- Stan (sopal@net-port.com), February 10, 2002.

A particular translation of the Bible. There are many different translations of the book, the King James being completed under his rule. Since many people do not read Hebrew or Greek, it has been necessary throughout history to translate the Bible into languages that people can understand. Of course accuracy is a crucial issue so translators throughout History take many painstaking steps to insure that the books are accurately translated and copied.

I am assuming your question is serious so I hope this is a beginning explanation.

Hello Stan,

King James VI of Scotland also later James I of England was the only child of Mary Queen of Scots and the first king to rule both England and Scotland. He was also the first king known to be a Freemason, initiated into the Lodge of Scoon and Perth in 1601.

James was raised as a Prebyterian, and was against the Puritian movement, rejecting the reform of the Church of England at the Hampton Court Conference in 1604.

James was a speculative mason and also wrote books about kingship, theology, witchcraft, and even tobacco. He also commissioned the new 'Authorised' version of the Bible which is call after him-the King James Bible,(it is the version that omits the two anti-Masorean Books of Maccabees).

This is a quote from The Hirum Key by Knight and Lomas on pages: 328-329. That is all the information that I have available at the moment but, will gladly research more it you are really interested.

Sincerely,

Ernest
