Camera lubricant

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

I've just moved up (or maybe sideways) from a 4x5 to a Linhof 5x7. It was dirty and gummed up from years of use and probably a long storage. After completely disassembling and cleaning the camera I realize some parts, such as the revolving back, need some degree of lubrication. Can anyone suggest the proper lubricant. By the way, I reassembled the camera with no extra screws left over! Thanks

Call Marflex (The Linhof Service Center) 973 808 9626 to find the proper lubricant. The wrong ones are as bad as no lubricant.

When I asked Marflex this questions...they told me a light coating of vasoline is what they reccomend. Richard Boulware - Denver.

I second the vaseline, works like a charm.

Re-assembled the camera with out part left over? Now what will you use if you have to fix it?
