Question for Dougal, Lynda, Ciara, Steph and other ladies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

This lass that Bellamy is supposed to have whacked claims that she did not know who he was.

Now tell me something honestly, Ladies.

a) Would you get into the back of a car at 2 in the morning with a bloke you didn't know?

b) Would you get into the back of a car at 2 in the morning with a bloke you didn't know and who looked like Craig Bellamy?

c) Am I simply getting too old for this sort of thing?!!

a) Does a cab count? If so, I did once, but made my (female) mate sit between me and the guy with whom I really did not want to get into the cab(my mate insisted it was just 'good craic'). I was later proved right when he ditched us(at least he paid for the cab!) at the next nightclub. I guess he finally got the idea that I found him utterly repulsive and he wasn't getting anything from me that, or any other, night. ;-))

b) Welll.....above mentioned bloke probably wasn't as oogly as Bellamy, but he was old(well, I was 23 at the time so anyone with grey hair was considered old). b) Part 2....even after the above incident, a few hours later Mary once again managed to convince me to get into the back of a car with a bunch of lads who she'd convinced to give us a lift back to our hotel. Fortunately they were decent blokes, but I never did anything like that again. It was taking a very stupid chance! c)Nope, just too sensible. ;-))

Jacko my fiancee reckons that the girls would have got in the car simply because it was a nice car. She says that anyone that would try to get in with Bellamy, Cort and Dyer would have to be slappers after money.

Thats her opinion anyway and i agree

How old was the girl Jacko?

I once got into the back of a taxi at 2 in the morning and asked the driver to take me home. Unfortunately it was a Pizza delivery car. I even offered to buy a pizza if he'd deliver it (and me) home but he refused. How unreasonable is that?

Jacko, I wouldn't accept lifts from people I didn't know but have to admit to once having done something really stupid when I was a student. It was when I was in France and a number of us were bladdered and could barely stagger back to our hall of residence. These blokes offered us a lift and later made it clear that we had implicity accepted our part of the contract by accepting the lift. In the end, nothing awful happened but it was a scary moment. Learnt a lesson, though.

The thing about this girl is that she emerges with almost no credit for having blabbered to the press about it. If she was assaulted and made a claim to the police, fine, no problems with that. Talking to the press just reduces her credibility for me. Her dad is in today's papers saying he doesn't hold it against the club blah blah. I'd like to hope he'd be giving the daughter some fatherly advice about getting into cars with drunk young men who you don't know.

She obviously knew they were footballers if she looked them up on .cock. Have shared a taxi with strange guys (one a Mackem!!) a couple of times but made sure I told the driver wher I wanted to go first.

Nail on the head, Dougal, re loss of credibility.

I don't think he could have hit the girl as described as he wouldn't have got only a caution. However in answer to your questions:

Footballers are like a magnet to young women and the lads know this. I am sure the girls knew the lads were footballers and getting into a flash car from a taxi rank with a load of NUFC footballers must have been exciting for them. So I can see why they got in. It may be that A bit of pushing and shoving took place and maybe the girls were told to get out. It may also be that the lads did not show much respect for these girls but that is not unusual for young lads on the Quayside - we've all seen what it's like down there.

As Dougal says - the girl should not have talked to the press. Bellamy seems to be carrying the can though for general stupidity from the others. Cort is actually married and one of the girls was sat on his knee! Bet Mrs Cort was well pleased.

But to be more specific - NO I wouldn't get into a car with Craig Bellamy but maybe Alan Shearer - if he wasn't a happily married man that is!

In defence of the young lady in question, if she has been slapped around and the police have chosen not to bring charges then it may well be that she's mightily (and rightly) pissed off and is looking to get her own back through the press. Hope that's not the case and that the incident was all a bit of a storm in a teacup but you never know. TOTT reckon Uncle Bobby wants to fine Bellamy 100,000 which suggests that the incident may have been a little bit more serious than a girl being shoved out of a car.
